So there is a new craze on our floor. Recently, the song "Just the Way you Are" by Bruno Mars has swept girls off their feet everywhere, and this does not disclude our campus. The song follows a young man singing to his love about how he thinks she is beautiful just the way she is and how she doesn't accept his compliments. The song gives the girls chills and leaves them breathless while it leaves the guys with eye rolling and exasperated sighs, which is a pretty funny scene to watch play out.
But the truth is, many girls sell themselves short. We settle on the guy that we really like but treats us horribly because he is something you don't want to let go of. A girl on G2 was talking to me about boys and she said that God made men to pursue women. So if you are a girl pursuing a guy, stop where you are. That is not your job. It is his job. This is not meant to be sexual because I know many couples where the girl made the first "move" and they are doing just fine. But, God's intentions were that the man was to pursue the woman.
This song also reminds us girls that we were made perfectly by God. We were made just the way God intended us to be, which automatically makes us beautiful because we are made by God. If you put God in Bruno Mars' spot, it is a love song from God telling us how important and how beautiful we are. G2 recently went out to dinner to celebrate how God is "just that into us".
Moral: Girls, you deserve the best guy possible. So don't sell yourself short for a hunky jerk when there's someone else out there who is 10 times better for you! Also, God loves you and thinks you are SO BEAUTIFUL! and that is something to smile about =)
